About the ASBMR Secondary Fracture Prevention Initiative Coalition
Created in 2017 to address the health crisis in the treatment of osteoporosis, the ASBMR Secondary Fracture Prevention Initiative brings together a Coalition of top bone health experts and health care professional organizations and patient advocacy organizations – more than 40 U.S. and international organizations – dedicated to reducing the number of avoidable second fractures in individuals with osteoporosis.
This initiative builds on the ASBMR Call to Action to Address the Crisis in the Treatment of Osteoporosis in 2016. Since then, ASBMR has supported extensive multi-stakeholder meetings and Coalition Member discussions, organized and convened by the Center for Medical Technology Policy ("CMTP"), an independent non-profit dedicated to evidence-based policy. CMTP also led the development of Clinical Recommendations and a detailed Action Plan.
